The Botanical Art Society
of New Zealand Inc
The Botanical Art Society of New Zealand Inc. (BASNZ) was established in 2004 as a non-profit organization. The Society’s aims are to foster and promote botanical art and to stimulate interest in plants, conservation and the natural environment.
BASNZ publishes a quarterly newsletter featuring member profiles, botanical news and events, book reviews, and details of national and international exhibitions, courses, workshops and field trips.
Membership is open to all botanical artists. Annual subscriptions are: $50 for members and $25 for associates.

Individual artists conduct botanical art courses and workshops for beginners to professionals throughout the year. An annual exhibition showcases member’s most recent work.
Congratulations to Rebecca Brown Thompson on achieving a Highly Commended in the 2008 Margaret Stoddart Award. Congratulations also to our President, Helen Nutt, for winning the 2008 Audrey Eagle Botanical Drawing Competion that is awarded by the Botanical Society of Otago.

An exhibition of members' work will be held at the home of Julia Burbury, 83 Clyde Road, Christchurch during the NZ House & Garden Tours that is raising money for the Cancer Society of New Zelaand and Look Good Feel Better.

The Margaret Stoddart Prize, 2009 – this prize is from the Margaret Stoddart Estate and will be awarded to an artist for ‘work in connection with the painting of flora native to New Zealand.’ It is valued at NZ$2,000.
