I use watercolour, coloured pencil and graphite for my botanical art and illustration. I feel that these help me convey the essence of the plant I am depicting.
I am excited about researching the plant that I have chosen to paint. I look at the finer details such as how the flowers, fruit and leaves develop in relation to each other, then combine all this information into a pleasing picture. I want to share my fascination for plants with others and help them appreciate the beauty that surrounds us.
As a botanical artist, I have shown my work in exhibitions in the United Kingdom, Italy and Germany and won awards in the process. This year I will exhibit with the Royal Horticultural Society in London, with a series of pictures showing aspects in the development of Magnolia x soulangeana.
