Botanical art is very new to Turkey and my aim is try to learn as much as possible and to teach botanical art in Turkey. I am working in several projects like, Turkish Bulbs, Flora of Kackar mountains, Natural plants of NGBB (Nezahat Gokyigit botanical Garden, Istanbul), and Native flora of Chile, Royal Botanical Garden Edinburg.
I am also running botanical art courses in the Botanical Garden Istanbul.
In 2009, I won a silver-medal in BISCOT, Edinburg.
In 2010, I won a Gold Medal and Best of the Show at The Royal Horticultural Society, London.

Artists statement
Isik Guner, Botanical Artist, Born 1983
Isik moved from Ankara for a four year degree in Environmental Engineering in Marmara University in Istanbul in 2000. During her undergraduate course she began studying Botanical Illustration, attending courses by Christabel King from 2002 until 2005.
Her interest and involvement grew, to the point that, following her graduation in 2004, she began working full time as a Botanical Artist. She currently works full time on a number of projects including Turkish Bulbs, Chilean plants, flora of Kaçkar, Kars-Igdir Biodiversity Project, Flora of Turkey and natural plants of the NGBB Botanical Gardens of Istanbul. She has organised courses at NGBB, at Olgunlasma Institute, and specialist line drawing courses at Hacettepe University, Ankara. She had several exhibitions at NGBB, 7. Plant Life of South West of Asia Symposium, Biscot 2009. Her first book, for children, published in 2006, is titled ‘Bitkileri Taniyalim’; to learn about plants. It is published by the NGBB.
